![]() ![]() | Not that I have any wish to defend XennoBB, but given the domain registrant appears to be from Romania, your claim is worthless. In fact even if XennoBB was US based, your claims would still be laughable.

![]() ![]() | How exactly do you "own the name"?

Does this mean that XennoBB (the project) will no longer be in development? I was under the impression that XennoBB already had a new owner, and development/improvements were already being made on the software.Chris | |

![]() | @Chris: From what i have heard 'Os' has changed his online name and started to redevelop the xenno forums, but he is doing so against my will, and against the laws set in place for copyright holders. @Ben: i fully own all software copyrights to the name 'Xenno' |

![]() | Well, to give you all a small update: XennoBB probably does not exist anymore. A month ago someone (I bet this was Osgiliath himself) offered him on OneCommune that he had "bought" XennoBB. Shortly after, he decided to stop the "development". XennoBB.com has been offline since a full month now. Marius Stanciu aka Osgiliath has renamed himself and is now under a different name trying to develop a bulletin board for the third time. For various reasons it's better that I don't announce his name and project name in public, though if you search Wikipedia and check the various people that edited the XennoBB article and perform a few more checks on one of the people, everything should become clear. A few people, including me, are keeping an eye on him. About this copyright discussion, I totally don't understand what this is all about. First, I don't know of anyone buying the copyright of the name and the software. Second, copyright does not keep anyone from using a name, you need to register a trademark for that. Third, the only copyright holder to the XennoBB code is Rickard Andersson, the developers of Puntal and a few mod authors. Fourth, if Marius decides to develop a new package on his own using his own code you have absolutely no rights at all to the code, even if you have so called "bought" the copyright to the previous code (which as I said doesn't belong to you nor him). In short, if you have really bought anything from Osgiliath you have litteraly given him your money for nothing and I assume he's really happy now. Next to this, this isn't a decent way to solve these problems, the only one is to announce his ripping actions publicly along with the proof and contact his host. He has been kicked from BerliOS before for this very reason. Stealing/buying domain names, hacking (as happened before), spamming, etc. is not acceptable and frankly just make his arguments and accusations look more true and grounded. I must say I have been disappointed by some of the previous actions in 2006! There is nothing else to do at this point, so I suggest anyone to start forgetting about both Revo and XennoBB and advise the owners of this board to lock this topic. |

![]() ![]() | I agree with the locking of this topic. All that has come from XennoBB is arguments. Nothing good afaik has come from discussions of XennoBB. I honestly don't care if he makes another BB under a different name as long as he doesn't rip code. |
