With MyBB I guess you just need to be familiar with the call functions. It's not the greatest, but it's much better than what I've tried in the past. There aren't many "real" themes or (significant) modifications available for MyBB. It's been a problem for way over a year or so. Not many modders or designers are making their way to MyBB and they've lost many talented modders due to (sometimes) slow development and/or conflict of interest.

| People understand that man, but it seems like you're here on a tyrade of anger against people who don't enjoy your/MyBB software. You should expect the people to look at themes, and modifications when they make their decisions. Whether you have other things to do or not, you are in competition with other forum software, and that is not a valid excuse. phpBB is free, but they have quite the modification following. SMF is growing in popularity and modifications as of late as well.

Obviously I expect people to compare our software to others. phpBB has been in the forum market for a long time, so they will obviously have more modifications than others. Just like IPB and vB. SMF is more popular because... hell I don't know? It just is. Maybe because they have more staff, or their google page rank is higher than others? My point is that ALL of the phpBB, SMF, PunBB, MyBB, et cetera developers provide free software. People don't care about the developers these days. They all want their questions answered within the hour, and expect the software to work 100%. They don't realize that if there weren't any phpBB or SMF or PunBB or MyBB, etc or some good hard working developers there would be no free forum software. They are taking for granted that we actually spend countless hours and years of programming to provide a competent forum software for free, at least recently imo.

Title: Veteran Join Date: Nov 2005 Posts: 709 Location: Romania ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think that in the end for the thread starter's problem there is a way I also used: create a "wrap" like layout in photoshop, slice and code (tables since i don't know how to work with divs) and put the entire script in it as I did in the example I provided on the other page. I know myBB is new on the "market" and is far from the huge number of mods and themes phpBB has, but I also understand our need of these. This is why, even if myBB is a good script out of the box, I am not that keen to use it anymore. I already ran into the "not finding what I want" problem in the mod community and this is the MAIN thing we have to "comment" on the script. I don't want to turn it into a "script vs. script" issues since we have tends of such threads in here. I would like to know how the theme finding quest is going. Anything new? Or will you just have to work on the default theme and try to make it as you wish?

You can, however, make sure that Chris at MyBB is aware of this problem. I don't know a whole lot about the marketing and promotion of forum software, but there may be something that he can do to encourage freelancers to come in and start developing skins and mods for MyBB. Make it easy for users to create and publish their own mods. I think the biggest thing you and the rest of the MyBB team can do is continue to develop the software and attract as many new users to it as you can. As the userbase for MyBB grows, so will the number of mods and skins.
