MyBB - skins / mods

Considering MyBB but wondering what folks are finding as far as modding and skinning goes - how does it compare to vB for ease of management and third party resources?

I checked out the demos here and am impressed by MyBB and want to give it a spin. I gave the admin CP a once over and it seemed decent. Wondering what others have found in their experiences with this software.

From my experience with MyBB, I've found it to be just as easy to work with as vBulletin. The template system if much like that of vBulletin and the overall feature-set is great for an open source project.

They are also actively supporting the project and have been for quite some time now. They've had a few changes in staff, though the primary development has continued and security updates have continued to be released.

As for as Themes (aka Styles or Skins), you probably won't find too many available right now. There are a few free ones, though they are not as updated as they should be.

As stated above, though, MyBB is just as easy to work with as vBulletin so if you can design, you should have no issued working with the software to get it to look the way you want.

On to TPR. At the moment, they do have a few modifications/hacks released, however, they do not have a full database of modifications in comparison to vBulletin. You'll find a few here and there, though you won't find too many right now.

I decided to give it a run and am impressed with it. I find it easier to work with than vB although already I have encountered some differences that make me want to clear up some time and write mods for myBB. This is a great little package!

MyBB is very nice indeed. I wish it had a greater following, though it's not really advertised anywhere and the forum community in general hasn't really adopted it that much over the past year or so, so it's kinda left in the dark at the moment.

I'd love to see a few nice modifications for the software, for sure.

I'd suggest http://mybbdesign.com/ They have previews which I definitely like about them

Unfortunately I cannot find that many themes.

Also make sure you checked out the themes on http://mods.mybboard.com/ and in our Theme section on the forums: http://community.mybboard.net/forumdisplay.php?fid=10

The only thing i dont like about mybb is when your editing the template css (i cant think of the name they used) 1. after you hit save it redirects you to the template page... 2. on the pagewhere you edit the css and stuff theres no way to tell what class/id it is! (unless im missing something lol) like vB has that thing at the bottom of the class/id section saying like ".tfoot" or whatever.. its so annoying lol

but other than that i like it im using it for a new forum im coming out with ( )
