Post [MyBB News] MyBB 1.2.7 Released - Security & Maintenance Release

MyBB 1.2.7 is now available on the MyBB website and is a general maintenance release as well as a security update release that patches a recently discovered low threat vulnerability.

Over 50 bugs were identified with MyBB 1.2.3 in 1.2.6 through bug report submissions, beta testing and internal analysis. These bugs have been fixed to provide a more stable version of MyBB for public use.

What's added/changed in this version?
  • Speed improvements for forums with millions of posts (Rewritten count system)
  • When using MySQL fulltext searching, the minimum search term error is only shown when all search terms are below the minimum length.
  • Additional information on plugins in debug mode
Information on upgrading, template changes and language changes can be found in the posts below. MyBB 1.1.x patches can also be found below.

If for some reason you cannot immediately update to this release:
We recommend applying the attached manual patch instructions for the vulnerability found in MyBB 1.2.6. You should only consider this a temporary solution and make the effort to upgrade to 1.2.7 as soon as possible.

To patch your 1.2.7 to fix these vulnerabilities please follow the following instructions:

mybb_126_xss_fix.txt (Size: 1.01 KB / Downloads: 85)

Please note, that you need to run the upgrade script for this version. This is so the templates may be updated.
There are no database schema changes in this version.

Thank you to Ryan for preparing this announcement for me as I have been pre-occupied with family related things this week.

So compared to those two and probably SMF and phpBB, we have the lowest amount of bugs and "bug fixes" in the first place. I don't see what the problem is?

All forums have bug fixes, security releases and issues here and there. I've yet to find a piece of software that is 100% secure and never needs to be upgraded .

While that would be the perfect dream world, it's not going to happen anytime soon.

Next time I'll just not fix the bugs, and you can complain about having lots of bugs instead of having a stable forum.
Dude, you really need to learn how to take criticism. Instead of getting an attitude about it, just explain that that is how software applications work and move on. Threats and attitude do nothing but further instigate tension and non-use of a product. Not to mention it does not represent your forum software well in a group of forum admins. Customer service should always be your primary goal when out in an open setting.

Maybe he was just having a bad day? Not that I am personally taking up for him, however, we all have them. How we choose to deal with them is dependent upon the person.

One staff members views should not change your opinion on a product though.

That's very out of character of him. He's usually one of the more pleasant staff members out of the bunch.

I wouldn't let this deter your decision to go with MyBB. The upgrade was quick and painless. One of the easiest I've ever gone through. They just seem to be getting more automated and simpler over time.

My apologizes - I was sick all today (the flu) and had to handle the majority of the problems with upgrading and stuff on the community forums. Just to simply put it, I wasn't in a good mood.

I'd also like to mention I practically put together this whole release and it hurts when people turn around and criticize your product with anything they can come up with.
