Question YaBB & DreamHost

I'm really new at this stuff, so forgive me if I sound stupid. lol. My website is hosted by DreamHost. I use IPB. I have a friend who needs a host for their site. We were trying to host it for them, but it is YaBB, and we can't figure out why it's not working. He keeps saying that it's bc there is no active perl module or whatever, but my fiance (who does all of this kind of stuff, not me) says that there is an active perl module.

Anyway, I was wondering if maybe the two just aren't compatible? Has anyone else ever tried this?

According to the DreamHost website, DreamHost does support Perl. Is the directory chmodded correctly? What error is he getting? Note: sometimes for Perl errors you may need to look in the cPanel error log.

Are you putting the YaBB files in the CGI-Bin?

Yeah, I was just going to ask that same question. Make sure that you followed the directions closely, and placed the files in the correct folders. The YaBB directions can sometimes be a bit...confusing.

dvduval will become famous soon enough
We have had quite a bit of trouble with Dreamhost for phpLD users as well. In the end, we were able to find a solution, but generally I don't recommend this host.
