Create your own thread to discuss WowClassic's features compared to other softwares, it's not fitted for this thread and the hijacking isn't warranted.

I didn't think I was doing that and it is not "my software" but I shall exit this thread regardless.

Never thought I would say that, but after testing VB, the new phpbb and anything else I could get my hands on I can honestly say that personally I would recommend this forum software. Most know that I had/have been a Wowbb user in the past, but was frustrated with the fact that the software lacked basic features (like subforums and a variety of other basic admin features). It was maddening and I did not see the advancements coming quick enough for my liking. So I started doing my homework and testing out other software's out there to find a new one I liked. I gave ALL a chance and took the time to test each, etc.

Then about a year ago the owners of wowbb let a few established community members who had well known coding experience (including one of the senior moderators at the main wowbb community help site) take the core program and start their own offshoot versions of the software. They were given the ability to add ALL the missing features to the core code and package it so it was all built in and not additional mods that would have to be added later. What resulted is pretty cool.
Thank you for the kind words! WowUltra's current (and future) features has been a result of Jim and I trying out different software for years and just could not find one we were satisfied with.

We are truly grateful that the owner of WowBB has given us the opportunity to develop his software in our own direction.

Jim and I have been loyal wowbb users like yourself for years. We try to keep our fingers on the pulse of what Wowbb users want to see for the 1.7 version.

So it came down to VB and Ultra for me. Both are software you have to purchase, but what really sold me was this. Ultra has all of the same features VB, a similar look, but also a few new things I had not seen, like one click in the admin area and you can change your entire board to 6 different built in layouts. That is super cool and I have never seen this with any other software. I can't believe I used to run a forum to make custom themes and changes for other wowbb sites and with Ultra it takes one (1) click, lol. It is also to easily customize if you have the coding experience. All the template files are completely laid out in the admin area and adjusting each if needed is very easy.
Alot of our members were paying extra for the side menu (not complaining) but it was taking away from the development of the software. So Jim came up with the crazy idea to just include the side menu options with the software. It has been a big hit with our members! I truly believe that is one of the main reasons WowUltra 1.15 has been a huge success

Hi,

I'm also a WowUltra owner. My board http://laughinglizardskins.com is currently under construction but due for a grand opening soon.

I have been using WowUltra for a while now and I find the software so much more user friendly than other software I have tried.

In fact, I found the templates so easy to change and theme that I'm honored to say that I am now part of the team of theme developers that is authorized to develop themes for WowUltra.

I would recommend WowUltra to anyone looking for a user friendly software, especially if you dont know much about running a bulletin board. In fact, WowUltra offers a free 30 day trial board for anyone who wants to play around with the software before purchasing it. That was a major selling point for me. I was actually able to test the software out myself before deciding to purchase.

Jim and Di are also great people to work with. I dont know how they find the time to answer my million and one questions as well as everyone else's million and one questions, but they do manage to answer each and everyone of them and in a timely way too.

All I would suggest is, check out WowUltra, start a trial board and test it out for yourself.

WoW Ultra can't even BEGIN to compare with the features & expandability of the vBulletin or IPB software platforms.

Period.

Now, that's not to say it isn't nice, but when it comes down to it, it only has bout 25% of the built in features that come standard with vBulletin or IPB. Even phpBB and SMF 2.0 blow it out of the water.

Even if they are little things, it's the little things that make many people choose vBulletin. Thinks like:

1. Quick Reply with editing functions.
2. AJAX enabled Quick Editor.
3. In-Line Moderation
4. Super Detailed Usergroup & Forum Permissions.
5. Very Detailed User Control Panel
6. HUGE modding community.
7. 99% of vBulletin modifications are FREE.

I could go on and on......

WowUltra Customer Service

I started with UBB Some years ago and had drifted away from using any BB Software for several years. Earlier this year I was looking into starting a site for my Masonic lodge and went with the WoWbb 1.7. Because of Customer Service issues, I dropped WoW bb and Went with WoW Ultra. This has probably been one of the best moves I ever made. I now have a partner in my projects rather than the opposite. The Wow Ultra Staff has rescued me from major crashes several times due to my own inexperience promptly without question. I have become more experienced in the past 5 months and everything is running smoothly for me as I have not crashed anything in some time. I have learned from my mistakes and from the outstanding customer service personnel from WoW Ultra.

Their User Activation Mod is Free and Works like a Champ. That Solved many problems for me. The recent upgrade to Ver 1.15 prompted me to start a 2nd project just this last week. I am Happy and My users are happy. The Customer service is the best anywhere. I don't see how anybody could ask for more for $99. I was extremely lucky for finding the best customer service around. No need for me to look anywhere else.

And you usually do

I haven't posted here since March of 2007, but I'm being hammered with e-mails and PM's so I decided to hop in.

First off Baldi, I can't ever remember saying that WowUltra is "better" than Vbull. Having written every line of additional code in Ultra myself beyond the base WowBB 1.7 code I would never make such a claim. This thread isn't about Vbull, or classic, or SMF it is about WowUltra which is celebrating it's one year anniversary on June 5th.

Having used WowBB yourself you know there is a lot of things that would need to be changed in order to be "just like" Vbull. That isn't and has not been my goal. The modifications I charge for are usually asked for. The ones that are obviously popular customer requests I incorporate in to the software.

Ultra has quite a customer base even though it has been barely advertised. I have customers that own other software also, they claim Ultra is easier to use. That isn't coming from me, it's coming from them.

So what have we learned? You love Vbull, that is OK, it has more features than Ultra, a fact, but this thread is not about Vbull.

I'm horrible at advertising, I'm shy and don't like getting in peoples faces. The fact is though if you are looking for a good bulletin board system at a great price with decent support from the entity that is actively developing it who can be reached several times daily... 7 days a week.... you might want to look at WowUltra.

WowUltra. We are changing and constantly under development. We listen to our customers and their input shapes the direction the software takes and the features added. Undeniable fact.

WowUltra - User Friendly Bulletin Board Software!

My post was in reference to the OP's message.

That and this whole thread just sounds like one big paid and well planned advertisement.

That is all.
