Heh. Here is info on the next upgrade that I grabbed off the WowClassic site.

Classic will have its very own CMS. This is currently being developed and will include per-member blogs and complete forum integration. Not only will forum information be integrated on the CMS but components of the CMS will also integrate into the forum. This is just one of our features that will take us into the Social Bookmarking arena.

There will also be:

Posts Of The Day ~ a rating system for user-rated posts (can even replace mana) (done)

Multiple attachments (done)

Move just one post to a different topic (done)

After First Bit/Before Last Bit ~ permission-based ad/code block management system (done)

User Ranking is now set up in the Admin Panel (done) and the rank icons will be preset

Post Numbering

Tag Cloud ~ (or weighted list in visual design) is a visual depiction of user-generated tags used typically to describe the content of web sites.

Favorites Tab ~ allows you to mark your favorite topics and they are listed on the tab just like the recent tab (done)

Forum Jumper is being redone to show per permissions and not using a button. (This allows you to set your favorites too for easy access. Customizable to match your theme.)

Custom Title

Quick Reply ~Permissions based

Topic mouse-over to see the beginning of the topic without having to open it

The welcome message in the New Member box will automatically set the board name in the message there.

Subscriptions will be able to be set to use more than one PayPal account so if you have subscriptions areas run by other members they can set it to pay them instead of having to go to you.

They will be making it so none of the features have to be edited in the actual php files. They will all be in the admin panel.

5/9/08 They changed the Upcoming Events where you can now set the number of events to show in the admin panel.

p.s. the reason I was confused about these "Other Software" topics being advertising and exclusive in nature is because when Nancy posted one in here it was moved by Ryan to advertising as you can see from his comments. Her old topic is HERE.

My personal testimonial and feelings about WowClassic:

I have several WowClassic sites, including the FOS one in my sig that has an image mapped homepage. I help Nancy when I can due to how indebted to her I feel. She has helped me renovate and improve my main forum site like no other. My forum site is my baby, has over 200K posts, and is basically a Classic site since it was the breeding ground for it and where the initial features were implemented and tested. I have also never met someone online who is as attitude-free, problem-free, drama-free, and as genuine and normal as Nancy. I hang around Classic to help balance that out - heh heh.

I can't speak highly enough about Nancy. She quickly became WowBB's top themer and ran WowBB's most successful mod and theme shop - the WowBB Theme Mall. She has a clear track record of delivering enhanced features and extra services to forum owners. That is how she has been spending her time these last few years. While other outfits closed or died, her services kept going and it is because she was not doing other jobs, peddling sites, or some other thing ... the reason she already has success is the same reason she is loved today - no long delays, no lack of responses, no attitude, all pure help from a very nice, very talented lady. Believe me, I am picky, and she is one of the few people who have constant access to my admin panel or server files. By the way, the phrase "Classic" is in there because it describes not only Nancy, but her approach. Read more below.

She is not working anywhere for some other software or outfit - her main and only business is WowClassic. She isn't spread out hoping to answer questions when she is around that night or the next day, she is focused to deliver classic customer service and has backup to ensure it. She is an independent, with an active forum site on PSP graphics, starting off just like you and able to relate to you extremely well. You get highly responsive 7 day service for free at Classic. You don't have to wait all day long or until the next day for an answer or for help. You aren't being serviced by people doing this as a side job or hobby. I don't know about you, but I can't stand not getting answers or help all day and night, never mind for several days.

For $99 you get a lifetime license that includes not only the best service (we are talking about someone going into your files for you if needed), but a very aggressive upgrade path. Classic has been around a half of a year and already has had two upgrades with a major one coming next month. So you are buying into a very high level of personal service and improvement.

Theming is extremely easy - that is one of the strong points Classic captures from the original WowBB 1.7 it is based on. Anyone you want can theme your site because it remains easy to theme. Also, as a sidenote, no database conversion is needed at all from a WowBB 1.7 site as it is truly 1.7 compatible. Classic is able to convert with many other databases.

I happen to be close friends with her so I get some special treatment, but I have been watching others get serviced and communicated with. Good luck finding someone who works to put your comments and feedback into the next upgrade as well, or is there as often to help you (remember, this is her MAIN gig, not some side gig), and has extra help around day or night to help out if needed (like me). I am not Nancy, but I have produced many mods for WowBB and have been helping people actively quite a while now, including doing theme work for them. My background, like Nancy, is in graphic arts. We both have an open approach, not protectionist.

Hosting:

Although she tried it at the start due to all the requests, she does not focus on hosting. Classic doesn't spend its time, energy, and resources on hosting. While there is money to be made there, the drain and negativity associated with hosting problems is not worth it. She would rather recommend that you go with a hosting company with 24/7 phone and other support. Why? Because she knows the terror of having your site down or dysfunctional. Why would she not want you to be able to call someone reputable and do something any time, day or night, for free? She can't provide 24/7 hosting phone service, so she thinks you should go with someone who can. She doesn't want you having a serious problem that can't be fixed because one of us aren't online, home, or feeling well.

Hopefully I can stop speaking for her and she will post here on her own soon.

Classic focuses on individual service, ideas, and aggressive upgrading that, by the way, you will find has very little bug or re-fixing going on. That is partly due to how Classic uses a pool of professional coders who just do coding. That is why her stuff is so bug free, and why you can get a problem fixed fast. The few times it was needed, I did not see people waiting weeks or months for a feature that isn't working properly to get tweaked or fixed. That's right - think about the last time or all the times you had to ask for updates on a fix somewhere else. Another reason you get trouble free features is because they are tested on active forum sites first. I can vouch for that as I help test them sometimes.

So, the focus is on quality - your user's experience and the ease of use to you. Also, the best themes. All you have to do is check it out to see for yourself. Not hosting, not another job, not an approach where you have to wait for answers or fixes - just the best service and path a new kid on the block could hope to deliver.

I have invited WowClassic users to come here to this thread so you can get less biased assessments. Before today I had only invited WowBB Theme Mall people to AF as I promised Eric I would do (he was very kind to be working with us - we had a Contest here at AF and WowClassic is now a menu choice item in your Profile).

lol, thank you guys for the great review.

WowClassic is an authorized version of WowBB 1.7 and includes all the awesome features you get with WowBB as well as the enhanced features you have seen listed. I have spent many months asking WowBB owners what they would like in their software to make it better fit their needs. Long before WowClassic I started in the development of the great features for WowBB owners. I do this because I truly love the WowBB software. We can integrate many databases so please ask us if you are interested.

Some of the new features I am really excited about.

I already had a forum jumper but it is being upgraded for Classic and is not just a drop down but allows for you to match your theme, pick favorites that sticky in the list at the top and is permission based.

I can't wait myself to start using the new CMS being developed just for Classic. It is module based so will allow you to add features as modules. If you currently run a front page this will integrate into the forum with cross information. The per-user blogs will show as last blog entry in the forum and much more. I don't want to give it all away.

I am very honored to be allowed to offer you Classic and want to publicly thank Aycan for this opportunity. I want to also thank my many Classic owners.

Please feel free to ask any questions concerning Classic. I'll be happy to answer them.

How can WOWClassic users give a review on WOWClassic without being biased?

That's like asking me to write a non-biased review of vB

Hi - I said "less biased" not "totally unbiased."

I meant less biased than me (someone who is actively helping to promote/service the software) - i.e. a "regular" user who went through the normal process of shopping and/or buying.
