 | From idea to forum. What did you do? Ok everyone, What did you do to take your 'forum idea' to actual forum? from the very start with the idea for your forum to what it is today. Where did you start, what did you do etc.

| firstly i discussed my plans with a few members here  then i thought out a catchy AVAILABLE domain. Then i bought the domain, got hosting, tested a few forum softwares.. i went for phpbb3, i designed and coded a theme, added ALL the modifications! then i CLOSED the foumor locked it, then advertised the opening SET DATE. then i asked a few big companys to support our site, they were awesome and gave my new memebers some very good offers! and i got good promotion! then i opened and started posting heaps of good topics, thne i posted under different names and i attracted members

 | Yeah I wish I had thought to visit a few forums first but there's something to be said for just jumping in. My forum was a spinoff of a board I was already a member of. Some of us wanted more than was offered. I searched the internet and did not find it so I created it first with free software, tweaked and worked it, got opinions and such. One of my friends who was running her own VB forum talked me into buying the software and she connected me with a coder who would do a custom skin for us, she ran a hosting company so she hooked me up, we migrated to the VB forum and it has been crazy ever since!!
