So today I log on my forums to find there are several new members registered. At the beginning of the day I only had 26 members, so I was pretty happy with a few more in one day. And as the day went on they just kept coming and coming, I am now up to over 50 new registrations today which is more than I even started out with.

The reason all these users are registering is because for some reason they believe my site is a WoW private server site. I've gotten several PMs, profile messages and intro posts asking "where's the realm list" and I just can't understand why they think it is a private server site. Unfortunately I've had to tell them that we do not allow discussion of private servers since it is against WoW EULA.

A major patch came out yesterday which added a lot of new content to the game so I did some searching to see if I could find where they were all coming from. I'm on the first page here private server running 2.4 - Google Search and here world of warcraft 2.4 private server - Google Search and maybe others. "private server" is in the results because that is the alt text of my topsites buttons, I did not put that there. But I just cannot comprehend after seeing the site how all these users still think its a private server site, with the welcome header and welcome PM and no mention of server lists or anything, they still think that they just can't find it.

Unfortunately probably most of these users will never post but I have a contest planned for the upcoming month so that is good that I have a bigger userbase to start with. Too bad I don't have ads on the site yet, today has definitely been my biggest day so far for that site.

Oh and for the lulz, one of the members asked "i registered now wat do i do" so I wanted to reply "how do i shot web?" but I resisted.

Most people don't really read! I bet most experienced Admins know how sure there are some that always read everything, but most do not read much at all and will overlook what you think are obvious notices. I still get some old-time active Members who have no idea what the top buttons along one of my sites does. Always assume most people do not read much, period!

Yeah you're right and I guess since I'm pretty experience on the interwebs things seem more simple to me but there is seriously no mention of server lists anywhere on my site, my brain just says DOES NOT COMPUTER.

I'm not sure how long this will last but it'd be cool if I can get over the 100 member mark, that will be a lot faster than I got there with my last forum.

I got a huge surge a couple weeks ago when Boyd Coddington died and people were searching for him. I got 452 visits from the google search "body coddington" (mispelling of boyd), and since my sites name is f-BODY, I got a ton of those hits for my news thread about his death.

Well looks like it's continuing again today, I'm up to 110 members. I think one of them actually isn't a private server person because they're posting actual quality posts, lol. I wonder how long this will continue.
