What to do when selling your forum?

Do you think it's a good idea to publically announce that the forum is for sale, so that when the new owner takes over it's not a complete surprise? Or do you think it's better to keep quiet and stick to DP, SP, AF, etc., to sell your forum?

I've been the only owner of the rapidly growing forum, and I've really gotten close to my members. Do you think they'll hold any feelings against me?

Personally, I would announce it to them, as one member maybe interested in the forum, and may buy it, so you know it's not just a random person buying it to make money.

Good luck!

I would tell my members but make sure that you explain why the site is for sale so they don't think you're a sell-out. Also I would try to stick around for at least a month or so after the sale so it doesn't look like you're abandoning them especially if you're close to some of them.
