Of course there are a number of factors that determine the success of your forum and every forum has its individual purpose. But in general, how much do you think your forum's success depends on the technical side (SEO, software, etc.) and how much does it depend on the 'content' side? (thread topics, 'quality' of moderators, number posts per days, etc.)

| 10 % software. 90 % content. there is a unmodded phpbb forum that has about 2,000 Teen members... its not about what software you have. (just some look better than others) its about what there is to post on... if there isn't anything to post on why would youwnat to stick around... too look at there theme ? | ||||

Join Date: Sep 2005 Posts: 10,246 Location: Athens, GA   | 65% content 35% software, mods, looks These percentages are very different for AF than many other forums though...I think that because we run forums for forum owners, our audience is very interested in the software, mods, and looks....These things are important to them since they are so close to them themselves...I will say that for non-technical forums, the spread goes towards content more like 90/10. Content...friendliness of staff and the community...these things are so important to the success of a forum imo.

| I would say about 90% content and 10% looks, software, hacks, etc, also. You could have the most beautiful board in the world, but if there's nothing interesting there then why post on it?

| I am in the 95% content and 5% mods/look/hacks. My members and most visitors just want something that is easy. Most are not computer professionals. So I don't need all the mumbo jumbo. | ||||
