Hi, many thanks to all of you for sharing your thoughts on this. I guess the question is how you define addiction. I was actually referring to a situation where a person finds it hard to control their habits. I could imagine people who allow forums to take over their real lives and that's what I would classify as an addition. I saw a website that mentioned the term forum addiction in connection with time managment. You see, if you start spending a lot of time posting in forums you might not have enough time doing other work that could be more important.
In other words, how would you define or quantify the value you spend on forums? Do you see any criteria that determine this value?

I wouldn't say I'm addicted to forums, but it is how I spend around 40% of my time online. I am addicted to computers, though.

I have some members that like my forum cos its laid back and friendly they say they are addicted to it.

as for myself on my own forum i have spent many hours looking after it setting it up and posting. its taken alot of my time i would say it depends on the forum you can enjoy going to a forum then others have good info but then the users are not as good.

i have a forum addiction too, everyday i go to some of the forums that i've joined and see if there are some reply to my posts, well for me its really an addiction, getting involved to some forums and discuss some topics there, its my addiction and probably there are many out there addicts like me....

i spend probably 8 out of the 10 hours a day online on forums, mine and others. forum addiction is real, if you have a popular site and it goes down for a few hours you probably have people contacting you every way they can to find out what happened....i do.
