Exclamation Inactive sites shouldn't be visible

Hello.

Yes, it's me again, being grumpy

I have noticed that sites that are not active or just don't exist anymore are still shown in the main list, not to mention in our subscribed sites list.

I would like to propose you to remove them until they solve the problem. Here is my experience as a very active poster: I have joined some forums. I am posting ... I am getting a good place. Then I have people come and post in my place and I am normally put down in the list. It's OK so far.

Still I post like crazy and then notice that a forum is not giving me credits. I usually go to sibscribed sites list and open all of them to see what's new. Since the forum I am talking about was in my list I didn't know that I have to look to "inactive/active" .. so ..there go 20 posts ...

In the main list: they are very high placed since no one can be credited. Poeple who join the program are joining them, subscribe and post. Takes some time to realise they posted in vain since the forums don't credit them.

A nice check on the list would reveal that: some forums ARE NOT in existence anymore (404s), and some don't have the script anymore. This will harm the project overall since people are here to "work", not try to see if they will get a credit or not, just because someone has a problem or just deleted the script.

Hope I am not offending anyone, but this can only lead people to think something it's not OK.

I agree,
Also, for those with a postfusion balance of -100 it will be good that the script removes their sites from the list until the owner gets in action so people stops posting in that forum.

Right now it is your job to report any missing, inactive, or broken forums in PostFusion. We do plan to have a better error reporting system in place with a future release, but do not have one as of today.

Additionally, it is your job to maintain and keep an eye on your subscribed list. My advice is to subscribe at a forum, go make a post, and then wait to see if the count updates. I wouldn't ever make 20 posts without first making sure it works.

Gaston, we have already implemented something that will remove all sites with a -25 balance or lower from the list. This does not disable or remove them froum PostFusion, but it simply removes them from the All Sites list and prevents any new members from subscribing.

I understand your concerns here and we hope to have some better processes to prevent this stuff in the future. For the time being, my advice would be for you to keep an eye on your Subscribed Sites list and report any that do not work. However, I will personally go through the entire All Sites list shortly and clean out any forums which are gone or no longer support PostFusion.

Additionally. Any site that removes itself from PostFusion will also remove all subscribers. The problem is that we added this enhancement recently. So Sites that had removed themselves previous to this move were not handled that way.

I have gone through the entire list and cleaned it. 10 forums have been removed since the PostFusion files no longer existed, and I have made note of 6 others in which I timed out or received a "server not found" message. I will periodically check these 6 forums over the next few days to determine whether or not they still exist.

Again, I encourage you to keep an eye on your Subscribed Sites list to assure that your post counts are still updating. If they are not updating properly, let us know here

Also, sometimes forums are deleted and recreated - search the list and you may find a few forums you were subscribed to under another name or URL.
