Multi forum Script

Hi

I pm'd Ryan regarding this and he suggested that I pot here asking.

Anyway I currently run a forum host called phpbbboards.com and it use the multi forum script that can be found at www.sebflipper.com.

The script runs off of the normal phpbb source files with a few minor additions. When you visit a forum the address looks like :-

http://www.phpbbboards.com/boards/?mfroum=support (this would lead you to my support forum)

Regardless of where on the forum you are the mforum variable is present in the forum address. This variable determines which config file to use as well as the table prefix that forum uses (thats actually retrieved from that forums config file).

Will the admin fusion system work out of the box with the script I am running?

I program myself and have made a few minor mods with the multi forum system and what ussually determines wether a mod will work or not is wether the script follows the phpbb coding standard (ie things like no hard coded url's or table names etc).

Also does this mod require any database queiries to run (I will have a loo kthrough the code myself shortly).

Thanks in advance

Peter

Well Peter, as we've already discussed via PM, I can't say for sure either way...it seems to me as if your forums would work, but the one thing I am unsure about is the database structure. I'm sure awibble or LarryB will be able to give you a solid opinion, but some things that might get juices flowing...

Do you only have one phpBB database running or are there two or more? Has your phpBB config file been modified at all?

Again, I cant give you good advice either way, but I'll have LarryB and awibble take a look at this.

with regards to the database, all forums have thier own tables as if they were running on a stand alone phpbb, that structure is unchanged and yes there is only 1 database running at the moment but to be honest don't think it will make much odds as the database details are drawn from the config file that the particular forum has.

Thanks for your help Ryan if LarryB or awibble need to discuss how it works more then I can help as I have quite a good working knowledge of the system.

Just did a test and no the script does not work with the system. Also did not realise it was encoded so obviously cannot look into that.

I presumed pf_pickup.php would be using some of the phpbb code that it is obviously not using such as common.php which it looks like it does not.

Is this a packaged modification or is this a self-built mod? If it is a packaged mod, what is it's name so that I can look at it and understand what it is doing.

If you could provide me with the table structure and the common.php so that I could check those things out it would be great. Also the name of the mod would be nice to have as well.

the table structure is exactly the same instead of tables starting with phpbb_ they start with their own prefix whish is determined by when they signup (and is the same as the mforum variable).

The only difference to common.php is what I have provided you via pm

I just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten about this. Last night I got fairly busy and didn't have a chance to think this through. I will try and do some thought in to how to do this this evening and get back to you with a more definitive answer.
