Hey guys...sorry I've been quiet the last few days. I've been away a little bit for the holiday weekend
First, I want to start by saying that I have adjusted the formula slightly. You still earn more points for posting at higher-ranked forums, but I have just lessened the effect. This should mean that people do not rise and fall
as quickly, but you are still encouraged to post at the top forums. What we continue to hear from most of you is that you want a more stable ranking system, and that's what this will lead to at least a little bit. Regardless of how stable you want it to be, we are still going to reward those who post at top forums and make it harder for somebody to maintain that top spot...and since this is the case, it is going to remain difficult for you to hold the top spot for a long period of time...at least, it will be more difficult now than it was with the older system.

Nobody has said that the only way for you to move up is to post at forums above you or to post at the top x forums. All we have said is that posting at higher ranked forums will move you up more than posting at lower ranked forums, but
you will still earn points regardless of where you are posting.

The idea is very nice indeed, it's just that we do have some topic limitations, not to mention there are some forums I just wouldn't like to post (layout issues, lack of topics, script etc.) ... |
I realize your post is a little bit dated, so some of this might not apply...but what I'm seeing right now is 30 posts by you (not 40), 16 posts received (not 9), and a rating of 0 (not -3). If you expect for your balance to be equal to your posts made minus your posts received, you're at the wrong place...That is how the old system worked

who has time to make hours and hours of posts a day to stay in the top few sites on the list???? |
Slow and steady wins the race. That's how we wanted the new system to work...We didn't want people to be able to make lots of posts, get to the top spot, and just sit there. That's what you could do with the old system. That doesn't work with this system, and I am glad. Don't kill yourself trying to get to that top spot. If it were me, I would just make a steady stream of posts each day (say 10-15 posts per day), and you are sure to remain in good standing. Sure, your position will fluctuate...you might drop to the bottom, you might rise to the top, but if you consistently make some posts (not a lot) each day, your rating should remain stable instead of shooting up and down. That said, don't worry about your rating if it drops to -50...because we have obviously made it pretty easy to rise back up. With the old system, if you ever dropped that low, you'd spend a week recovering.

Don't post all day long, non stop...If you do that, you are going to have to keep doing it every day to maintain your spot. The thing is...if you make 50 posts today, you get a lot of points for it, but if you only make 10 posts the next day, you're going to lose points. Why? Because 40 of those posts now fall into the 48 hour category instead of the 24 hour category. So, instead of having 50 posts in the 24 hour category, you only have 10. That means your balance will drop, all else equal.
