That said, we do still have "raw, unadjusted balances" viewable for the top 10 forums. Those are listed on the At a Glance page on the left. We'll rename the title of that box soon...but that gives you the raw balance for the top 10 forums. Every forum has a raw balance and they are ultimately ranked on that raw balance - however, all raw balances are converted to a number on a scale of -100 to 100 which is the "Rating" that everybody is assigned. The rating was used for two reason: 1, to "clean up" the ugly raw balances and 2, to add that mystery factor. The conversion works like this...The #1 forum sets the bar. Say the #1 forum has a RAW balance of 200, and you have a RAW balance of 150. Divide your balance into the top balance, and you have your rating. 150/200 = 75, so 75 would be your rating. The #1 forum will always have a rating of 100, and all forums underneath that will have a rating of their raw balance / top raw balance. If you look at the #1 raw balance on the At a Glance page, you can actually figure out exactly what your raw balance is: Your Rating / 100 * Top Raw Balance = Your Raw Balance You really don't need to know any of this to actually participate in PF, but I'm sure some of you are interested in knowing more about how it works, what you need to climb, etc...If you know and understand the stuff that I just explained, you should be able to get a pretty good idea for how far you are from the #1 spot. Granted, you still don't know how much your posts make you go up because there are so many factors involved (timing of posts, where posts are made, # of new subscriptions, etc.) but at least you know "how far" you are from the top.

| will be interesting to see how people react to the new way of calculating their position... I also think you may have some bugs with the way it is calculating. On my subscribed forums right now it shows the same forums listed multiple times. just a heads up. Last edited by Ryan; 05-18-2007 at 02:10 AM. Reason: Merged double posts | |

Remember, the #1 site sets the bar. If somebody else posts at the #1 site, its raw balance will drop...Since your rating depends on that balance, your rating will then rise because somebody else posted on the #1 forum. Balances will also rise and fall naturally with time...You get more credit for posts made within the last 24 hours, so when 24 hours passes, you will lose a few 'points' for posts that were made 24+ hours ago...and this is true all the way up to posts made within the last month. It works for posts received also. Your raw balance will actually rise over time as you move farther away from posts that you have received. Anywho, it's confusing, but it's all calculated, and your rating will constantly be changing even if you aren't doing anything. This new system depends on how the entire PostFusion community is performing as a whole, it's not just about what you are making and receiving. It's all a complex algorithm...Don't kill yourself trying to figure out precise #'s. Just focus on posting at top forums, that is what will move you up the highest.

I have an idea of what is causing that. As for a bug in calculating the posts due to seeing duplicated forums on your subscribed page, that's just not the case.
