If you have a good way of getting members to post at the top forums, then I would like to know ...The fact of the matter is that we have always encouraged people to post at the top forums, but we cannot force them to do so. PostFusion is all about getting posts into your forums - posts that are on topic and by somebody who is genuinely interested in your forums. The day you start forcing people to post in certain forums is the day that people stop using PF and/or the quality of PF goes way downhill.

Right now there is a clear problem with high balances. It makes it very unfair for others to have to reach a 300+ balance just to be near the top of the list. Since the members do not seem concerned with posting at these top forums to bring them down, then we have decided that we need to do it ourselves...but if you have a better solution to the problem (a way to balance out the system), then let us know.

My next question

How is this going to be initially started? Right now I am at 300 and somthing, will I simply lose a bunch of points, or will it be started when myself and others currently above 250 are brought below the threshold.

My third question is, what ever happened to the Inb0x posters?

You will still have your 300+ balance, but will not be able to increase it until you drop back below 250.

We got Inb0x to put 400 posts into the system for us, but it did not help the problem much at all - and came at a hefty cost for us at AF...we would much rather spend our money promoting and developing PF than paying to have posts put into it.

I have just been onto all the forums that have more than 140+ of a postfusion balance and I'm seeing more where your coming from. Of all theses PF members only ohc, Rizzo and ghostman have well established forums with more than just a handfull of posts. The rest appear to be new forums where the members are thinking the higher they go in PF the more posts they'll get back and may have been better posting on their own forums to encourge conversation than posting elsewhere.

I don't really think the idea of a limit is the best, but something is defaintly needed to deal with this.

Just like to know what is going on.

As long as the ranking is maintained then I do not believe that the 250 cap will be an issue. I will simply add a few more forums to see if I have something in my portfolio that people will find more interesting.

I am putting the finishing touches on a Webmaster / My general forum so it should be easier for PF users to post in since the majority of them are already webmasters

Something needs to be done, there is no doubt about that - and this is the best solution we have come up with...it might not be perfect, but it is the best thing we've come up with...and while not everybody agrees with it, nobody has approached us with a good alternative either.

I think the best solution is to get more people posting, I'll admit I haven';t posted on PF in a long time. I think if I make a couple of more posts a week.

Mate, you have 328 posts on PostFusion and yet your two forums have 409 & 39 posts in total on them. If you had taken the time to put another 300 posts into them instead of on other people's forum's in Postfusion you'd have had a better turnaround by now. The problem here isn't actually PostFusion, it's that some of the forums near the top are doing nothing to encourage conversation.

Yep, I couldn't have said it better myself, Bob...I've said this many times and again, but PostFusion is meant to be a supplement to already existing posts in your forums - it is not meant to be the sole source of posts for your forums...if you do not participate actively in your own forums and spark discussion, you are not going to receive any posts from PF...even if you are at the top of the list.

But...we already have a few threads/stickies about that - let's try to keep this one on the topic of a balance cap.
