Being a positive "PostFusioner"

A few PF members and I have traded PM's on their boards and emails about different ways anyone can be a better or EXCELLENT Post Fusion member. The key is the general quality of the posts you make on the other PF member's boards you subscribe to. Now of course this is just one opinion and others may think differently. But coming to a board and just posting lots of smileys or making posts that are only 2 or 3 words long, OR just posting in the "Welcome New Members" categories and saying "hi" "hi" "hi" to everyone who joins, - is not really contributing to the board you are posting on. People who only or mainly post in new member threads are really not helping the forum.

We are all board owners in PF, or most of us are. We all know how to post to help motivate additional posts or multiple replies. That does not mean you have to be controversial or crazy or anything like that - just make posts that are inquisitive, ask questions or keep threads moving. That is really valuable. You can also start threads that you know from experience have been successful elsewhere. If you are unsure about doing things like this you can PM or email the board administrator with you good idea and they can actually start the new threads. But either way you have now helped the board grow vs filling it up with posts that are quickly forgotten or skipped over.

Again this is only one opinion, but I know that I am always trying to keep discussions going if possible or trying to add to threads that are moving to keep them moving up and up.

The PF system can add a ton of new members, posts, threads and other great things to your board, but your should always try to positively add to any board you post on.

You raise a valid point about posting stuff just to get your numbers up.

A question: Does PF notice if a members post is deleted?

Yes, and it adjusts accordingly...that's a way for the forum owners themselves to decide whether or not PF posts are quality. However, if somebody gets a little bit delete-happy, you can report them, and we'll look into it.

What was this I heard about PostFusion giving more points for larger more popular forums? Surely that isn't fair to the smaller forums out there?

Who said anything about more points to larger/popular forums?

You get more points for posting at forums which are higher on the ranking list.

Surely the higher forums will be the larger ones though?

Of course not...in fact, it may be the opposite more often than not. It is easy for PF'ers to post at busy (large) forums but not as easy to post at smaller, inactive forums...when that is the case, the smaller forums will be at the top since they are not receiving as many posts (holding everything else constant of course).

In fact...here are the stats for the current #1 forum:

Quote:
Our members have made a total of 67 posts in 25 threads.
We currently have 13 members registered.

In the times I used PF (will reinstall it on some forums) I faced some of this issue myself. I just deleted all the offending messages and waited for anyone to complain .. the thing is that the spammers (cannot call them otherwise) knew they did something wrong, so they never complained for having posts removed ... I did get a lot of awesome posts too, so the conclusion is that many still know how to deliver some excellent posts
