If you have a look at the 'at a glance' page it says there are 778 forums. But if you look at 'all forums' page there are only 2 pages, max 50 forums?

That is a statistical total of all forums that have been in the system at one point. Not a total at the moment.

There were never 700 forums in the system at one time though. So I find that it looks no different than it did previously.

Kind of like McDonalds hamburger joint saying. "Over 17 million served"... But they aren't serving them ALL right at this time. A collective amount. A Grand total and growing.

Yeah, but you couldn't fit 17 million into one shop, but you could fit 700 in here. It shows me that 660 of them didn't like it enough to carry on using it

No it doesn't.

That is 700 forums starting January 2006. First, how many of those forums do you think even exist today? I'd say that 50% of forums fail within the first 3 months, and 90% do within the first year....that alone means that a huge chunk of those 700 forums don't even exist today. Sure, some of them do exist but no longer use PF, but not necessarily because they don't like it...it could be because they don't even need it anymore. It could be because they switched forum software/upgraded and forgot about PF. Some people don't even install PF with the intention of using it...Unfortunately there are people who install it just to get listed (free link). Some people aren't even sure they want to use it in the first place. They just install it to "try it out" and then find out that it's not for them.

Remember that we also wiped all forums 1-2 weeks ago. Before that, there were, I don't even remember...probably 100+ forums listed in PF. There are only 40 now, but that's only because we wiped them all a week ago.

Expecting all 700 forums who have ever used PF to still be listed today is a bit much, don't ya think?
