Besides, it's just a big help to the PF owners, because we all know how much we like to see new threads in our own forums...if all PF users made it a point to create new threads, then everybody would benefit

For example, many threads would be something like... Thread Title: What song are you listening to right now? Thread Post: Jessica Simpson - Irresistable Next Post: Metallica - Until it Sleeps Next Post... etc etc you get the picture. or Thread Title: Word Game! Thread Post: Reply with a word that ends with the letter of the word I'll post - Banana Next Post: Apple Next Post: Elephant It's either these kinds of threads, or threads with news articles. If you're gonna post a news article, comment on it. It's disrespectful to PF members who take the time to post insightful, opinionated responses, to be countered with brainless, quicky posts such as the aforementioned. I could go to the LA Times and copy/paste a hundred articles in a few minutes and easily hike up my balance, but I don't do anything I wouldn't want others to do on my forums. I don't compromise my posts. Of course, this is just my opinion. Everyone runs forums differently and if these are the posts you want, more power to ya. It's just that some message board owners hold a higher standard and hence, it wouldn't be a lost cause to keep this fact in mind.

| ghostman, you make some very valid points. I also don't like those type of threads where the objective is to increase your post count. This goes for PF and non-PF members. That means, on my forum, a thread with the title of "Word Game" would get removed quickly as it does nothing for the forum. I know that some PF members probably don't put much thought into their posts but hopefully the posts themselves have substance.

It only takes a minute and the poster was very considerate. If the poster does not heed the PM then I simply start moderating those threads, and worst case make it a rule of the forum. That has not had to happen yet, and I hope that it won't. I stand by my point that when I want to get my balance up I start threads, I haven't been approached by any admins yet along the lines that they didn't approve. | ||||
