Your rule on signatures

How does everyone feel about PF members joining and including a signature with a link back to their site? I'm not talking about the people that only intend to spam your site and make sure to include a flashy signature to accomplish this more. I mean the good PF members that post thoughtful posts but they have a link to their own site in their signature.

I like to include a link to my userintervention site but I always ask before I start using it so I don't offend the admin of that board. Should I not bother asking and just start using it from the beginning? Your thoughts...

Edit: Oh' and by the way, I don't mind PF members using a signature with links at my site. So long as they don't spam the place but I'd probably contact them about that before it got out of control.

I treat PF members the same as my normal members, so I do not mind if they have a link in their sig as long as it is following my signature guidelines.

I ask about this in every single forum if I couldn't find any signature rule or guideline. With regard to specific rules and guidelines, I think that each forum should have its own rules and guidelines. It's really not something PF should intervene, IMO ...

Personally I have no problem with PF users having a link in their sig on my forum. I do the same, it's mutually beneficial. As long as it follows the guidlines (which I have yet to add) such as no affiliate links or massive images etc.

And I believe that is the way everything should be run. You can't expect PF members to have minimum word count, not have links in sigs, etc if your regular signed in members do.

The only thing that I ask is NOT to mention PF in my forums, especially any none webmaster forums, unless there is a question from someone on how to get content for their forum
